Finally back with another boudoir shoot! This shoot was such a blast and I'm just so excited to finally be sharing it!
This is my friend Krystal and she was so awesome to work with! She let me make her beautiful curly hair all big (I kind of have a weak spot in my heart for big hair), put a giant flower in there, and do her makeup however I wanted. There was even a moment when her and her huby looked at her make up and were a little scared (for pictures it needs to be a little heavier then usual in order to show up correctly, and if you're not a crazy makeup geek like myself it can be a little shocking), but instead of freaking out and washing her face, and flattening her hour out all she said was "It's ok, you had a vision and we can do it.". My little artsy heart leaped for joy! I can't tell you what a fulfilling creative experience this was for me! Not to mention Krystal is kind of zen to be around. She exudes this positive sense of freedom that is just contagious and a joy to work with!
I honestly felt really honored to do this shoot with her and here's what she had to say about it:
"Doing this photo shoot with Andrea was SO MUCH FUN! After carrying 2 babies, and all the changes that come with that magical experience, I felt a bit disconnected from my body. This was the perfect experience to help me get back into my body and feel comfortable in my own skin again! I went into the shoot feeling quite nervous, but by the time she was done with my make up, the nerves were gone! I came out with a whole new perspective of myself, my femininity and a new boost of confidence that this Momma needed! Thank you Andrea for making me feel comfortable, and helping me discover that fun and flirty side of me that I thought was lost!"
I think I loved doing this shoot so much because not only was it about getting beautiful shots of her but there was a sense of an awakening there too. I haven't had any children yet myself but I've heard from multiple moms that after all the changes your body goes through having children, thinking of yourself as "sexy" can feel a bit foreign.
And it doesn't even have to be motherhood that makes you lose touch with your body. Weight loss or gain, stress, life changing events, it can all cause us as woman to forget what it feels like to be sensual, and flirty.
I think boudoir is about making woman feel beautiful and amazing in their own skin and it's a joy for me to help capture that.
I can't tell you how much I love this shoot! She just looked stunning and I couldn't be happier!
XO,
-Andrea
